reMarriage magazine is led by founder and publisher Paula Bisacre. The editorial leadership also includes editor-at-large Kathy Ely, plus two editorial board members, Brad Sachs and Francesca Adler-Baeder, Ph.D., who are experts in their fields.
Paula Bisacre
Paula Bisacre realized while planning her second marriage in 2002 that very few resources existed for brides who had been married before. She thought her problems were solved when she found a seamstress to create the perfect wedding day ensemble, so she could forego the poufy white dress routine.
Yet her questions about remarriage did not end with “I do.” They had only just begun. No wedding planner, etiquette book, or well-meaning philosophical conversation with her fiancé, let alone a magazine, had prepared her for a remarried life, complete with five children, two full-time careers (one which included something not-so-simple like leading a thousand soldiers during wartime), two homes, a 100-pound dog, and 5-pound, yappy dog.
Those conflicts sparked an idea for a magazine, one that would air some issues, offer some solutions, and just share in the fact that the journey for remarrieds is a little different, but no less colorful.
Paula also writes a monthly column for the Washington Times about remarriage issues.
Kathy Ely
Longtime magazine editor and writer Kathy H. Ely knows more than a little about remarriage. She has been writing and editing magazines while single, married, single, then married again. Now seventeen years into her current wedded bliss, she spent a decade in what some call the “starter” marriage. Though she has skirted the ugliness so many find in divorce and stepfamily issues, she’s fascinated by them all, and still believes in the possibilities of starting again.
