Happily Ever After– Profile of the Month

Rebecca and Greg Ford, Steilacoom, WA

Greg and Rebecca married on Valentine’s Day 1998, about six months after meeting while Greg was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. When the Army transferred Greg to Arizona later that year, Rebecca followed, but the stress of Army life took its toll. Greg felt torn between Army and wife, while Rebecca felt alone. In December 2000, they divorced. A year without Rebecca made Greg realize he could combine his two loves, so he showed up on Rebecca’s doorstep to win her back. Following the 9/11 attacks, Rebecca proposed, and they remarried just a year later.
Since then, they’ve survived three additional moves and Greg’s deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom soon after wedding #2. This couple, it seems, had to lose their marriage in order to save it.
